Ann Njeri  Njoroge Ksh 17 billion oil saga

Njeri has recently hit the headlines after finding herself battling for ownership of an oil shipment worth Ksh.17 billion with two oil marketing companies, Aramco Trading Fujairah and Galana Energies.

The  shipment is said to have been loaded on MT Haigui between September 20-28 and departed for anchorage at Jeddah in Saudi Arabia for cargo dopping and sampling before shipping to Kenya. KPA has listed Aramco as the shipper and Galana Energies as the consignee of the shipment in contention.

Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir has also dismissed Njeri’s claims of ownership of the consignment. According to Davis Chirchir, Njeri’s company, Anns Import and Export Enterprises Limited is not a licensed petroleum import company; hence, she cannot claim to have imported diesel cargo into Kenya.

He also stated that the Vessel’s Master rejected the Bill of Lading provided by Njeri’s company since it was forced. However, Ann insists she is the rightful owner of the shipment.

We have an account in the bank in which we settle payments for products we have been allocated. The cargo on MT HAIGU was paid from this bank just like all the other petroleum transactions we have executed over the years

She, however, refused to present her bank transactions to the committee, claiming they were private and confidential. Ann was also put on the spot for presenting reportedly fake tax compliance certificates to the lawmakers.
